Ok I give up...where do I find a decent map of the layout and route of this
bypass ?
Is just the 'northern' section completed or is it fully complete.
And why would I want to use it anyway ?..and HOW much did it cost ?
I was born and bred in n-u-l and moved to South Manchester in 1986 (sorry
!!! job!)
Regularly travel A34 back to newcastle/Stoke...sometime take the 'scenic
route through Biddulph (God what a bypass that is and I though Newcastle's
had enough roundabouts !!!)
At least they are now starting the Alderly Edge Bypass which will make my
life easier (and all you potters who
struggle to Manchester and back every day !)
And much as I hate to say it (I was at the 1972 League Cup Final !) I will
be able to afford to see Stoke City play again next season when they are
back in the Championship and get a ticket !!!)
Are their any plans to increase the capacity of the ground ?
Ok so much for my moans..over to you !

Well!
It is now general knowledge that this newsgroup was set up
by the government to plug the gaps created by the abysmal
failure of their Psychiatric Care in the Community Policy.
The uk.local hierarchy was devised to provide an outlet for
individuals who would otherwise spending their days sitting
at home wearing an aluminium foil hat waiting for a full moon
to rise. It was hoped that this would reduce the incidence
of nutters out there howling at the moon and frightening the
shit out of their neighbours. Another of HMGs aims and
objectives was to provide a distraction to take their minds
of the problem of who they were going to knife to death next.
Unfortunately, this group has been taken over by the
articulate lower middle classes who have succeeding in
driving HMGs target audience away.Independant research has
shown that it was the amount and quality of the inane drivel,
called small talk which the middle classes are adept at, which
had the effect of doing their heads in. They left to
protect what was left of their sanity. Saddly this has happened
to the whole of uk.local. hierarchy.

This newsgroup is a very good example of another HMG failure.

It's now been named 'James Brindley Way' but it doesn't seem to have
made it to Google Maps or MultiMap yet.

You can make out the route of the bypass to the north of Westbourne

I think there are still plans to build a new road around the south
western side of Tunstall but this may be more to give access to the
derelict land where H & R Johnsons tile works used to be than to bypass
the town.

You could now pick up the new Tunstall bypass at the Turnhurst Road
junction just after the Chell roundabout - it will bring you out by KFC
in Sandyford and you can drop down Reginald Mitchell Way to pick up the
A500 (...plenty more roundabouts though!)
