Post by Peter ConstantinePost by Zhang DaWeiIt is possible to have moderated groups on usenet, and there are a
reasonable number already in the uk. hierarchy. See http://xrl.in/374

That was kind of what I was getting at... THIS group cannot be
moderated. It could only be done by setting up a completely new group.

It is /possible/ but it's also a seriously bad idea. Usenet does not
reside on a single server, (though Google groups does its damndest to
make it look that way) but on thousands of servers throughout the world.
To make the change would involve all those servers agreeing to comply.
I don't see masses of spam but I read the group via NIN and I now know
that Jay reads it via Google. So that's probably the reason.
Frankly I don't se how anyone can read a busy group via Google but I
suppose it's doable for this one.
You can't beat a good feed and a good news client.
By the way both Mark Goodge and I are both members of the UK Usenet
Committee, FWIW

It's only Usenet, no one dies.
My opinions, not the committee's, mine.
